Luffy, Nami, Zoro, Chopper, Franky, Sanji, Brook, Nico Robin and Usopp form a circle to pose together.

The Wano Arc conclusion is just around the corner and One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda decided to drop bombshell news. One Piece is going on a month-long hiatus from June 27th, 2022 to July 25th, 2022 so that Oda can finish preparations on the Final Saga.

Per Eiichiro Oda: "I want to reorganize the last arc so that I can close it as soon as possible".

One Piece is going to be very busy in the near future. Oda also expresses the need to get ready for the new film ONE PIECE RED FILM which will premiere on July 22nd, 2022 in Japan. The cinema release dates are August 6th, 2022 for Japan and August 10th, 2022 for France. No further countries were announced to have theatrical releases at the time of writing.

Not only is there a film to prepare for, but there's also a live-action adaptation of One Piece that will be airing on Netflix. In the announcement, Oda would also like to travel to South Africa where the show is being shot to supervise the show's production. There has been no release date announced yet, but given the information provided by Netflix’s Geeked Week 2022 celebration on June 6th, the show still seems to be a ways off. We will probably be able to join the live-action East-Blue crew on their adventures sometime in 2023. Oda continues by saying, "Four weeks! Give me time to steady my breathing!"

Just to clarify, a Saga typically consists of multiple arcs stringed together. In the case of One Piece, they can be as long as 2 Arcs or as short as 5 Arcs. The Alabasta Saga lasted 5 Arcs, starting with the Reverse Mountain Arc and ending with the Alabasta Arc. The Dressrosa Saga only lasted 2 Arcs, starting at the Punk Hazard Arc and finishing up on the Dressrosa Arc.

Back in 2019, Oda said that he would like to wrap up One Piece within 5 years. How many Arcs are left after Wano is a complete mystery, but having the words Final Saga and One Piece in one sentence is all I needed from Oda. I'm sure this is a moment many One Piece fans have been eagerly awaiting and dreading at the same time.

The Straw Hat crew ready up for adventure!
