Early Tuesday morning, Adidas terminated its partnership with Ye, formerly known as Kanye West. This announcement comes a few days after Ye posted an anti-Semitic tweet. Adidas released a statement to explain how they reach this conclusion:

Earlier this month, Adidas decided to put the “partnership under review” after Ye wore a “White Lives Matter” T-shirt during Paris Fashion Week. Before his Twitter and Instagram accounts were suspended on Oct. 9th, he also threatened on Twitter to go, “death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE.”

On a recent Drink Champs Podcast episode, Ye said “I can say antisemitic s*** and Adidas cannot drop me”. The episode has been pulled due to “false and hurtful” comments about the murder of George Floyd stated a Drink Champs representative.

After many antics and statements that many people consider insensitive to particular demographics of people, brands have started to drop their association with Ye. Adidas is the latest company to join that list along with:

  • Balenciaga

  • Vogue

  • CAA (Talent Agency)

  • MRC (Production Company) - Shelved a completed Ye documentary.

  • GAP

  • Def Jam (Universal Music Group Subsidiary) - Contracts for Ye and his record label G.O.O.D Music have been terminated.

  • Brown Rudnick LLC (Law Firm) - Johnny Depp defamation case lawyer Camille Vasquez drops Ye after anti-Semitic remarks.

  • JP Morgan Chase

Keep in mind that this recent string of disassociation has happened over the course of a month. These are powerful statements coming from these companies saying that any affiliation with Ye is terrible for business.
